John,

>It is one thing to not want to deliver an app before a technology has matured. It is quite another thing to sit by and wait to investigate until a technology has reached maturity.

>IMO, the word "mature" in this context is code for something else.

>The people that became leaders in the Fox world did not wait for VFP to mature. The people that will be leaders in the .NET world have not waited for .NET to mature.

The people who choose to stay productive did. See JohnR mistake with Java. I'm not sure what you mean with 'leaders in the fox' world and I'm not sure this is even the case. You can not prove this as fact and therefore is your opinion. I'm not sure if 'leader in the fox world' has any value in the world where you have to deliver working applications and stay productive. Many of VFPs' MVPs earn their money in a total different way as the majority of this forum (Framework builders, tool builders, teachers/preachers, conference speakers etc).

>To some, the "maturity" argument sounds better than just saying ".NET is not as good as Fox.". Maturity in this context is spin - and should be discounted as much.

Maturity means that it has to grow to its full potiential. .NET has a huge potential but has not grown to it yet as I expect that to happen after the introduction of longhorn and avalon. (Funny that a .NET preacher did not mention the potientials of AVALON before..... hmmmm what does this say ?). Anyways, yes I do think so .NET for winform applications is not as good as VFP. You already knew my position on that. However, to disregard my statement of 'maturity' as a code for my opinion is a very cheap one and does not prove any of any intellect.

>To say .NET has not matured is like saying "I am waiting for wireless technology to mature before adopting it..."

Actually it is getting pretty mature at this moment, but until recently it was not as there were huge security problems, for many companies to adopt. You're not realistic on this one.

>It may be an opinion of some, but it is not very informed, and as a result, lacks validity.

Informed ? How informed are you? AFAIK, You never mentioned the upgrade and new features of longhorn and avalon in this forum, how this relates to the current .NET version, and never used it as a argument. How does this make you informed ??

You consistendly avoided technical details and examples, you always dismissed them as irrelevant as it did not apply to your world. You don't even dared to dive into the details of ADO.NET with me, because you knew you would not be able to defend your standpoint, You did end our discussions with me when I could prove that you did not know what the hell you were talking about when it came to the enhancements in VFP8. When it gets real technical you don't seem to have anything to say and revert to rethoretical meaningless lawyer talk. Could it be you simply don't know and just are BS us ??

Do you really look into the world arround you? .... You live in a pretty narrow world AFAIK.
