Is there a font known for being designed for reports?
What I mean desinged for reports is:

1. It has to be a light weight font, so it does waste very little ink or tonner.(courier new is a very light weight font, but it's not a pretty font and it's a bit outdated). There are some very-very light weight fonts, but I think they are not very easy on the eyes, and they don't fax very well.
2. I think it's better sans serifs, as numbers are read better with no serif fonts.
3. It should be readable at 5 points.
4. It should be a proportional font; they look better and you can pack more letters in less space (for long character fields this is very welcome). Sometimes it makes the difference for a report to fit in portrait; when you have to go to landscape you waste a lot more on paper.
5. Caps should not be too wide. There are several pretty fonts which caps are too wide, and they consume too much space if the user has typed character fields in caps (which is not uncommon).

Arial has almost everything, but it's not light weight (compare a report in Arial and Courier New and you will notice).

I have always thought that a font designed specifically for modern reports is a killer. Just imagine how much money would a big company save in toner and ink with a font 20%-40% lighter and yet easy to read.

I made a 20 minute search on the Internet and found LightLine Gothic (in www.myfonts.com) to look like a fine report font, but I would like to know if there is already a study on this with a recommended font.

Thanks in advance,
Javier Borrajo.
