I'm actually quite surprised that the simple act of creating an object from a VB DLL is giving you this grief, especially since I have a tiny VB DLL that our VFP 8 app has been using for a while now without problems. I'm thinking there has to be something related to what your VB object is doing, but then again I'm just speculating. I hope Microsoft is able to get to the bottom of this for you.
As for NY, now would be a horrible time to come. It's been quite the brutal winter over here. We're actually getting snow/freezing rain as I'm typing this. I would definitely wait till the spring before coming out. One would hope that we start clearing out in March, but April is probably more realistic.
Laterness,
