LOL, okay it's clear to me now :)

So that is precisely where I would place the ViaFox/Data files, if I were to purchase a system, and had the choice, where to place the data files.

You know, it was only quite recently that I got aware of the fact that MS has not only meant "My Documents" for Word-documents, but also for all kinds of other files, like pictures, movies, audio files, dbf's, and so on. I think part of my 'confusion' may have been caused by the fact that in Dutch the (also Dutch) word 'document' is really only related to texts. I think that most Dutch people have a misconception of MS's "My Documents" and as a consequence have a 'wrong' folder structure.
I became aware of this all when I got my new laptop, with Windows XP, and decided to declare another drive as "My Documents". So, I declared "G:\Documenten" and found out that the default for my Word documents became "G:\Documenten\My Documents" and my videos wanted to be installed in "G:\Documenten\My Videos". Now I use G:\, so I got "G:\My Documents" and "G:\My Videos". And morover I renamed "My Documents" to "Documenten", and it's only used for text-documents. Afterall, I am Dutch. :)
I think MS should have called "My Documents" "My Data".
>Don't forget that the user can rename this, for instance; so you would have to find out how to get "C:\My Documents" as a variable from the OS.
This is funny. In Innosetup I use GetShellFolder( True, 7 ). I expect it to refer to the "My Documents" folder, but on my laptop (where I expect it to point to G:\) it still refers to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents". Aahh, I think I know what's happening. The G:\ is the redirection of my personal stuff, whereas GetShellFolder( True, 7 ) refers to the All Users stuff. Okay, time for some additional research. I'll let you all know. :)
>>It's my hunch that where these days only some companies still want to install at the C-root level, a higher percentage of developers (including vfp-developers) still want to install the software at that level. You can imagine that I also oppose this MyApp-centric behavior, for the same reasons.

>I assume you use "Program Files"?
Indeed.
