There is a known issue in XP with helpsvc.exe running overtime. Check Task Manager, when there is a slowdown, on the Processes tab, click the CPU header to bring the most used process to the top, and see what it is. On one (and only one, and Indexing Service is turned off), I regularly see helpsvc.exe taking up 90% or more of CPU utilization.

The constant waits while the OS goes out to stare into the weeds for 10-45 seconds periodically is driving me nuts. Is anyone else out there having any similar problems? I've been on-line with MS for a couple of weeks now trying to beat this thing into submission and I'm about ready to wipe it and to back to W2K.
