The Mere Mortals .NET Framework
Hi Kevin,
>Any assignment you specify at the user level overrides the setting at the Role level...this is by design. This allows you to specify >security at the role level, and specify exceptions to the role security at the user level.
The developer's guide is clear on that fact. But I am confused about Roles. I have 15 users of the my asp.net application at 3 seperate locations. I was hoping that I could assign each user 1 of 3 Roles. Then I would simply assign the secure controls 1 of the 3 Roles. Anyone who I wanted to have more or less of a level I would set at the User level. I don't know how to reset a User's level back down to *no* level. In the developer's guide you mention that if a User level is not set the Role level is the respected level. However, how does one *not* set a User level. There are only 3 choices in the Assign drop down and none are "off" or "not-set". And.... how do we *un-set* the User level after it is set.
Regards and thanx for everything

>>Also... How do I secure a hyperlink in a templatecolumn of a datagrid. I don't want to secure the entire datagrid. Just the templatecolumn. And.... I need the ability to secure a web page not just it's controls. RequiresSecurity=true; in OnInit works great but I want the page to be selective to the user's access. IE: I only want Admins to have access to a certain web page.
