If I remember correctly, there is a problem that the help compiler cannot use RTF file created with Word 97. It works OK with RTF files created with Word 7.0 (Office 95), probably with RTF files created by other editors as well. There is an updated help compiler available for download from Microsoft but I don't know if it addresses this problem or not. I use Word 7.0 so I am not speaking from personal experience, just remembering that I read about this here on UT some time ago.
