Hi Steve, I am just getting around with playing with this.

>I'm thinking that pinging will give a slow response when not connected...is this for a situation where you *know* there is no static connection? If so, I would experiment with InternetGetConnectedStateEx (or InternetGetConnectedState), and use the ping after you get a positive result. I believe the danger of the InternetGetConnectedState functions is a false positive, but not a false negative.

IOW, if InternetGetConnectedState returns a quick result saying you are not connected, I would think it would be correct.<

I am not sure how to use InternetGetConnectedState to check this, would you have a quick sample of how to show me how to do this?

Thanks....
