Thanks Cetin. One of the problems with the speed of using ADIR() is that you have to use "*.*" to get all the subdirectories. For sometime I've been meaning to write a routine that uses the API (Surprised?) to retrieve them. The reason is twofold. One, to see if it is faster; and, two, to retrieve the names as they've been created. ADIR() returns the values in all upper case.
