>>Thanks Cetin. One of the problems with the speed of using ADIR() is that you have to use "*.*" to get all the subdirectories. For sometime I've been meaning to write a routine that uses the API (Surprised?) to retrieve them. The reason is twofold. One, to see if it is faster; and, two, to retrieve the names as they've been created. ADIR() returns the values in all upper case.
>Yes surprised. Was thinking why you didn't do it with API. I know you as one the API masters. Once upon a time I had wrote a code in prolog for findfile (found Norton's too slow for checking just where it's). If I could find it will send you to work on.

Thanks for the compliment, but given what I don't know about it, I hardly feel like an "API master". Well, the routine was an old one ported from DOS, and if I recall correctly, 16 bit Windows didn't have any functions like FindFirstFile, etc.

What I'm really interested in implementing is a file finder that will report back to VFP. That's still in the future, but it is the reason why I'm interested in testing.
