I can see how a corrupted index could cause posting to the wrong account, but I do not see how it would create 7 entries in that account, and then 6 in the correct account in response to 1 customer entry.???

The tag does exist and is still operative.
A problem is a problem only as long as it has a possible solution. Lacking that, it becomes a FACT!
