Hi Mike,

I agree you can't draw too many conclusions from these lists. For example many rich dutch people formally live just accross the border in belgium and work in holland to escape high taxes. Some also have a house on aruba. This certainly polutes the list.

Some other lists are displayes in absolute numbers. In these kind of lists it is not a miracle that countries with a high number of citizens are on the top of the list, such list should also come with numbers per citizen (or visa versa).

For example the gas reserves of holland does not seem much, but given the very small geographical area of holland, it is very significant.

But still these list give a pretty good indication about certain numbers.

Walter,

>What I find funny is, Iceland and Canada are high electrical consumers. Both places are cold and people require electricity to stay warm.
>You can see a similar factor in developed countries that are hot. They need electricity to stay cool. Being high on that list doesn't mean those countries are better. ;) I'd personally rather be somewhere where I need little A/C or heat.

>The larger countries must have differing uses per captia per region. That would make comparisons of Canada against Iceland inaccurate. The people in Saskatchewan experience much colder temperatures than people in British Columbia. I would think quality of life differs regionally too.

>Iceland is unique in that much of their power is generated by geothermal sources. So while they may be the biggest user, its because they need it and they can get it cheaply and without adverse environmental effects.
