Chris,
I have focused on one aspect of Whil's message, the paragraphs that you (why??) have stripped out without using [snip]. What is the relation between your comment and my reactions?

>Whil has done a great service to the VFP community for many years. Can we assume that you will be picking up where he left off by paying authors to write VFP books and putting on great VFP conferences?
>
>>In this reaction I only focus on the above paragraphs in order to keep this subthread focused on what bothers me, your critisism on the vfp community.
>>
>>Hope you don't feel too good to read the comments... here's my comment.
>>
>>I'm screwing the community. Who said you're screwing the community?
>>I should be pushing people to .NET, not to Linux. Is this an example of a vile invective?
>>I purposely killed the book market by creating a lousy website. Who said you're doing that on purpose? Steven Black has criticized you, but he didn't say you did it on purpose, did he?
>>I'm out to cheat my authors. Interesting, who said so?
>>I'm trying to kill FoxPro. Who said so?
>>I'm just a flat-out liar who has been stringing people along for years. Who said so?
>>I should be loyal to Microsoft, that sort of thing. Who said so?
>>I haven't been accused of beating my wife yet, but I'm sure that'll come. Can't imagine someone will ever gonna say so...
>>
>>Now I think that you are the one who is accusing, but you're not giving names and you're not referring/reacting to the actual statements. The implication of not giving names and real examples is that you're accusing in the wild and that it can be pointing to anyone of us, if not to all.
>>
>>Your reasoning in the 'hanging around on forums' paragraph is abusive in itself also, at least for me, but I think for most of 'us'. 'We' help each other and occasionally search discussions. When someone makes a statement, all others can concretely reflect on that real statement. Only seldom unkind words are used and always the community reacts on unkind words in an appropriate manner.
>>
>>Having followed, and initiated, several threads that were started as a reaction to your proclamation, I think that most messages contain sensible statements and comments. The abuses were minimal. If you think otherwise, then you could/should have reacted.
>>
>>Whil, you were my hero. I have almost eaten your DevGuide. But right now I feel an urge to critizise you. You must realize that you are a man of influence. You have the power to start a self-fullfilling prophecy. Foxtalk is now going down. That high-quality mag will be missed, for sure, at least by me. But you must realize that your words might even bring vfp itself down.... Vfp is my living and not only mine. Given your influence, you should have realized that before you wrote your proclamation. Some unpopular statements can indeed better not be made. You have been showing very irresponsible behavior lately.
>>
>>This comment is in the public, and not to your private email. Others have the right to know my opinion.
