>Our app installer is a C++ wrapper that runs MSDE 2000 SP3a, two hotfixes, then an InstallShield major upgrade. For updates, we would like to detect whether MSDE 2000 and the two hotfixes in order to skip shtraight to the app when MSDE 2000 and MDAC 2.7 are fully up to date. Does anyone know registry or file version "footprints" that can be used to detect these setups? :

Randy,

I would download free Regmon utility from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml and use it to see what registry keys each of updates access/checks.
