I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that it doesn't support jpg. I've never tried using jpg as it's really not particularly suitable for documents, which was my target at the time.
I did a quick scan of all the documentation I have and couldn't find mention of anything but bmp, tiff, and awd (whatever that format is).
