Hi marcia,

>Not that fast lady :)... What are the chances that I'll find something in there I could not find on the internet even faster and of better quality ?

>Actually, I think that the chances are pretty good < s >. I know that our first book shipped with a chm that was searchable. As far as the quality goes, when it comes to getting free advice on the net, it is pretty much a crap shoot. For every gem you find, there is a lot of garbage to wade through. JMHO < s >.

I don't know if I'm going to agree with this. I don't recall having trouble finding anything that I did eventually find.

>Also, lets say, that I could save two hours of work with one thing out a VFP book. What about the time I need to read the entire book ?
>
>I have never had to read a book from cover to cover to find what I need to solve a particular problem < s >. I can search the electronic version and zero in on what I need in a matter of minutes. I can also tell you that when we wrote KiloFox and MegaFox, the format was intentionally designed to help people quickly find solutions for specific problems. Each section begins with the title "How do i.....?"

>I would imagine that when you buy a book from Whil, the e-book is available for download fairly quickly < s >.

Well that indeed is not too bad (and how it should be IMO).

>I NEED MY INFO RIGHT NOW.

>Is there some reason that you are yelling at me? I certainly have a right to my opinion. Just because it happens to be different from yours, this is no reason for you to start yelling at me.

No marcia, I'm not yelling. I've got too much respect for your contributions. I'm merely defending myself in not buying VFP books. I'm perfectly capable of programming my way out of a paper box (remember the trick of getting a record showing at the top row without using setfocus?). I don't spend a whole lot of time to find specific code solutions to problems. I'm comfortable enough to find them rather quickly. I spend more time in analyzing the client needs, designing and straightforward programming than findoing out how I to create a mailmerge, send an email, set up a layered application, how to write a C/S / n-tier application.

If you're honest, you will agree that the UT, WIKI, MSDN, google newsgroups do contain a wealth of information. Far more than you'll ever find in any book.

Walter,
