This has been reported. It goes back to VFP5. It only happens when all the following are true:

Table is included in the project
Table is in a DBC
Table has a long field name (over 10 characters)
Field with long name is indexed

Making any of the above not apply should cause the error not to occur. Easiest is probably to make fieldname not be > 10 characters.

The cause of this one is hard to determine from the error message.
