>When I was trying to introduce myself in OOP I tried VB 4.0 and later I tried VB 5.0. According to my experience VB is not so fast. The Jet Engine is not that fast with big databases. I've tried one with 89,000 records and the search time was almost double as in VFP.
I'll second that, Emmanuel. I had a contract programming experience using VB-Access in a datawarehouse app that led to the database getting beyond 400Mb. It was not a pretty picture. The system was very fast when the test data, bout 10,000 records was used. After moving into production the key phrases would be Slowwwww, easily corruptible. Some Access bugs which never showed up at 10K records appeared repeatedly in exponential fashion in 100K increments. After three months the CEO switched to Informix. I was contracted to graphical drill down interface interface. The graphical part worked neat. :-)
