Hi Marcia,

After having read your words about Megafox, I have bought it, just some minutes ago. :)

>Hi Pete.
>
>Someone new to VFP will find the books very valuable, but the pros will not need them as much.
>
>Quite possibly, but I think I'm a pro and I still buy other people's books and learn from them < s >.
>
>Marcia, I have bought Kilofox -- it is excellent! -- and have learned a lot, and am still reading it and learning new things as I need them.
>
>I am so glad that you are finding the book useful!
>
>I have not bought Megafox because (a) I'm not professional (yet) and given my zero professional income from VFP development, I can't justify the cost of buying every book I'd like to;
>
>Fair enough. I totally understand your POV.
>
>(b) I haven't finished my learning curve from Kilofox; and (c) I haven't seen the advertising that convinces me that it would be to my benefit to throw away Kilofox and replace it with Megafox.
>
>Actually, MegaFox does not replace KiloFox < s >. The subject matter is totally different. KiloFox is all native VFP solutions. MegaFox is tips about how to make VFP play with other technologies. It has tips about XML, ADO, Web Services, ActiveX controls, sending and receiving e-mail, creating charts and graphs, etc. etc.
>
>Finally, I'm reluctant to put a huge investment in VFP materials right now (including VFP upgrades) because the debates on this forum about the future of VFP make me nervous about how much time and money I should put into it -- I ask myself frequently if I shouldn't be putting my study time and financial resources into something else (even though I really love the Fox).
>
>Interesting. I know of at least tw business owner that are DYING to hire VFP people, but they cannot find any qualified applicants. Feel like moving to lovely Akorn, Ohio < s > ?
Groet,

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
