I had bound column of the ID to the combo that explains the replacement of the ID to the display field and the disappearing text in cbo.

(Now I have made the BoundColumn and BoundTo readonly in my builder as I generally use the first column to display [hope that does not create more such desperate queries from me], sorry to have troubled you all.)
