Greg,
In the UK accounts, payroll etc. can be defined in terms of Sage and Pegasus. The accounts, payroll and manufacturing are written in VFP with an installed user base of approx. 16000 sites. As a company we have approx. 10% of those sites as customers where we develop applications or bespoke the original package to support their business requirements.
How many of these companies feel their business would be better served if their invoices where generated using a .NET application?
Pegasus spent a *lot* of money trying to develop a new modular accounting system in VB instead of converting from Fox Dos/Win to VFP and in the end that product never really saw the light of day.
We also sell a Microsoft product called Navision, we have just taken an order for a large group of companies who want to develop their own functionality using Navision's 4GL tools. I demonstrated using .NET and C# to create extension DLL's using the COM Interop. layer, I then showed them VFP 8? They have just ordered VFP8 training to extend Navisions functionality and cannot believe the ease in which they can solve data related problems, they are even looking to build standalone applications with SQL Server using VFP.
Regards
Neil
