Hello All,

It has been pointed out, and probably correctly so, that the negative slants of the topics do not contribute to VFP's life span. So, this thread is dedicated to the MANY smart and innovative programmers that have kept the fox alive all these years.

I would like to share why I LOVE and use VFP everyday!

1) It has a counter culture edge, the red headed orphan of MS.
2) I don't need a lot of extra crap to make it work, It can work with SQL, ActiveX, etc; but generally not necessary because VFP does what I need.
3) The programming community that has formed around VFP is awesome, look at some other forums and you will see this. The only other example of a great community I have seen is for Delphi.
4) It's cost effective, without all the license requirements it is easy to maintain and upgrade users. With VFP the programmer reaps the benefit of his work, not some big corporation.
5) Fast Development, boss needs a handful of improvements, not unusual to deliver them the same day. Great development environment, useable and extensible.
6) Experience, remaining VFP programmers have a lot more experience than other developers (on average)
7) VFP is very good at maintaining backward compatibility, Although I don't recommend it, I have apps I wrote 20 years ago that run almost unaltered on the latest version. They don't break much, making my life easier.

There are more reasons, just wanted to start the ball rolling. Please try to keep this thread positive, all you nay-sayers out there have ample opportunity on other threads to state your point of view.
