>If anyone knows of any foxpro positions in south louisiana I would appreciate a contact so that I can submit my resume.

Don't just look at VFP jobs. There are many offers that may specify a particular language. In some cases, especially direct (not agency) work for hire, a good case can be made for VFP instead of what ever.

If you're in the energy production area, you can market directly to service outfits and software shops. There's a lot of need for automation in the oil patch. Look for any ACCPAC vendors in your area and give them your contact info.

Inflections in our voice and conversational style can turn a 'don't bother me' to a 'this sounds interesting". I think the trick is being able to reveal yourself in the first instance of communication.

The US seems to be evolving towards a cottage industry economy. From HR to self employed!

Also, don't restrict yourself to a region. Dragan lives in Va. He accepted work in NYC. He was shopping for a place to live, when the employer offerred terms that allowed him to telecommute. He will have to make some onsite visits.

If your career is at the point that you consider yourself a self starter and have some design background, then the world is open to you. If you prefer the synergy and learning environment of a large team project, then you may have to cosider moving to where the job is.

I say shop your resume. Market as an independent - and while your waiting for phone calls or in between searches, continue to program. Explore those exotic VFP features you always wondered about.

A good search engine is available at (multiple sites and time filters):
