Hi, Bob,

A few days ago, I started this thread. I posed the question about whether Ragan Communications/Whil Hentzen put out feelers to see if anyone wanted to 'save' the magazine. I posted it very early last Saturday morning, if you want to go back and read it.

Based on some numbers, it seemed that the newsletter might still be capable of turning a profit. If not, then my points don't matter...but if so, then the sequence of events (the editor resigning last year, and then the announcement a week or two ago) has myself and others wondering if there were many reasons beyond economics.

From a fairly reliable source, I had the FoxTalk circulation at about 1,100. I looked at the subscription rate, less things like mail costs, production costs, cost to pay the editor and writers, etc. Others suggested other costs might be at play (promotion and other production costs). It seemed that there was still a decent amount of $$$ left over. And with some retooling to make it on-line only, that number could be even higher.

If my number of subscribers was low, if it is indeed closer to 4,000, then that presses the question even further.

I personally think that something like...'FoxTalk, by Hentzenwerke' was capable of continuing, given the positive clout of that brand name. If those who were producing FoxTalk elected to do other things, that's their choice - but the sequence of events is somewhat puzzling, and I continue to ask if feelers were put out to continue a very good newsletter that has been around for well over 10 years.

Kevin
