I agree that on shared servers you're better off using SQL Server or even Access tables for small web apps, since those are supported by most hosts.
VFP tables are an option if you host your own server or have a dedicated server, or in some cases with Web Connection hosting by DNG Solutions where they are set up to handle VFP apps and tables.
However, when possible, I like to use SQL Server.
