Hi Michael.

>I'm thrilled to see another VFP application enter the world of Windows desktop utilities. Your time tracker looks like a nifty little tool, perfectly appropriate for VFP. I will be sure to download it and try it out at the first convenient opportunity.

>For the purposes of beta testing within the VFP community, it might be helpful if there happens to exist a compact, no-setup version of Clickwork, for those who have the necessary VFP runtime.

The setup wizard itself is a main concern for beta testing. So many things can go wrong. With regard to that aspect the vfp community is probably not the ideal test group since vfp-developers already have all relevant files, like vfp7r.exe and richtx32.ocx. Yesterday I have surfed for beta test communities and actually found an interesting link, but even those experienced beta testers will probably have stuff like that already on board. I saw you have interesting links on your website also.

My plan is to provide updates (including beta-updates) that will not contain certain files, like vfp7r.exe. But even updates will gonna be setup wizards. It gives me better control and requires less technical actions of the user.

>I can't recall if I already saw you in one of the ASP forums, but if not, I'd definitely recommend joining the ASP (Association of Shareware Professionals). There is another organization that uses the term "Trialware", and shuns use of the term "shareware". I'm not sure if you are deliberately making that distinction.

I'll gonna join the ASP indeed. One reason is that it gives rebates on important products like submittal software.

I think that the term trialware is somewhat better these days. The term shareware was invented in a decade that such software was mainly distributed on floppy disks. I have also been at the European Shareware Conference in 2002 and there these terms were discussed in one session.

>Anyway, thanks for the mention, and good luck!

>P.S. I've been working on and off on a much improved version of Montage, including changes to address issues you brought up a while back. Stay tuned for a major update...

I have trouble retrieving those threads. Were we talking about it here on the UT or was it in private? I think that we should keep in contact and talk about certain things in private (afterall, we are commercial guys also), but other subjects are interesting enough to discuss here in the 'open air' of the UT, because they can be of interest to others too, now or in the future.
Groet,
