Clarion DOS has a ccvt utility that allows you to convert its .dat files to dbf files in DBASE III format. I did this regularly. Here is an example from my old code (it can be run directly in FPD26 or VFP as I did below):
RUN \labor\ccvt clarion \labor\lmdata\employee.dat dBaseIII \labor\profit\employee.dbf
>We are trying to convert some data from a DOS app written in Clarion for a customer. Any one know what kind of data (.dat) files it might be and possible methods of accessing (other than data junction) ?
