I am actually using C#.NET, rather than VB.NET, but I have 2 primary reasons for using .NET:

1. ASP.NET is very, very nice for developing web applications. I did not do that much work using VFP to develop web applications, but ASP.NET does seem better.

2. There are increasingly more opportunities in my area for .NET work. There is very little work in my area of the United States for VFP work.
