VFP 6 can directly access BMP, JPG and GIF. I don't know about memory usage during printing, but I would be concerned mainly about the disk space. BMP uses up too much space on disk. GIF and JPG use data compression.

GIF only supports 256 colors. It uses lossless compression. I recommend it for screenshots, and for artwork that doesn't need more than 256 colors.

JPG supports millions of colors. It uses lossy compression (usually). It is usually the best choice for photographs.
