Hi Guy,

The image I have is simple black and white logo so my choice is GIF because it would have the smallest size. I was concerned that VFP might drain memory or some other side effect unless the image is in "some" special format. From yours and Hilmar's answers it seems that VFP does not care. So I will go with GIF.

Thank you for your help.

>If you are using black and white images, then GIF may get you the best compression. I've heard arguments that creating GIF files requires licensing from UNISYS (free, but a hassle). I'm not a lawyer and don't quite know how to respond to that, but others have told me to either endure the hassle of getting a license for GIF, or just use PNG images.

And you can control the bit depth, you may be able to get away with reduced quality and save on your file sizes and nobody would know the difference. Again, I've had recommendations from people who deal with images a lot, and they tell me PNG is a pretty good option. But I've never tried to print a PNG image from FoxPro so I can't comment on that.
