>French seems to be good enough (Even better than many Montrealers) to be understood Alex. That's the most important thing.

>How come you speak it?You are too kind. Thanks.
I don't speak it. I can read and speak a little but not write. I studied French in school many years ago. My aunt was the director for the local branch of the Alliance Française in a small town, so she taught me some. And since I studied Portuguese (which I do speak and write somewhat fluently) I forgot my little French and sometimes get confused between the two.
True story:
When I was in Quebec five years ago, I remember a business meeting with a company I visited. It was all in English. Then during a break, they chatted between themselves in French. It was funny but I could understand only one person, almost everything she said. The rest of the people, barely. So I asked her later how come I could understand her and not the rest. And she said: "That's easy, because I'm French and they are Canadian". <g>
