Hello Nancy,

It's a good thing I used a smiley. I wonder what would have been your reply otherwise.

Also, we've all seen plenty of crappy VFP code; so, is it _really_ necessary to run down others like this?

What I find funny in your reply is you saying "I know it's popular in the VFP world to trash VB developers". I've always heard this in reverse. VB developers trashing VFP developers. Language has almost nothing to do with the quality of the developer. I know this as well as you do. A crappy developper will be a crappy developer no matter the language used. But because some development environment and languages are easier to work with this can become an attraction to less skilled developers.

So this will also lead globally to more crap produced by the boss's children that showed his dad the cool colors he could put on the screen with his computer. So dad concluded that his son's a developer or a friend of a friend that can do a job without charging that much.

Visual Basic has always been promoted as the "do it all tool". So this made it really attractive to "all" of those that wanted to "do" something.

VFP is more restrictive. First because there's almost never been no marketing. So not many use it. Why would they with the promotion that was made with VB.

So those that choose to develop with VFP do it because they are fully aware of what can be done with it. That it's a data-centric development environment. With that usually comes the notions or "Normal forms", "Referential integrity"...

I think that you get the overall idea.

>I don't think it's trivial since it may actually lead to discouraging VB developers from using this forum.

Is'nt VB supposed to be dead. It's VB.Net now

I heard someone - VB developer by the way - telling that VB.Net is a good thing because it's going to rid the development community of all of those phoney developers that have been able to live even by developing pure crap.

I guess that those that won't be able to go to VB.Net because of the learning curve complained or will complain a lot. But I know that this is not your case so rejoice because there are better days coming because of VB.Net.

As for this forum. I guess that this is probably explained by the fact that skilled VB developers are upgrading to .Net and those that can't do it will probably look for jobs at Macdonal's or Subway <vbg>, not because one VFP developer is trashing them.
