Also, we've all seen plenty of crappy VFP code; so, is it _really_ necessary to run down others like this?

Nancy,
don't take offence at written by Denis, but most of it is true.
I have pleasure to work with 20 programmers. Most of good SQL statement writers are proficient VFP programmers.
In our firm work VB and C# programmers which are wizards in their field, but they have not internal relationship database spirit. I know that to be a database programmer is something different than to be a programmer.
I also divide peoples who use FoxPro in two categories - users of FP and programmers in FP.
The problem with VB programmers comes with their study in school (university).
They think that if they know VB that's enough to make every application and do not pay much attention to databases. May be teachers are guilty for this. I mean teachers in DB. According what I observe in Varna all good proficient DB teachers left university and make money developing IS.
But let’s stop arguing who is the best. There are place under sun for everybody with their advantages and weaknesses
