The best thing to do is to avoid corruption in the first place.
Find out why does your PC hang and try to fix the problem.
Have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) in every workstation in a network, plus the server(s) plus huibs, firewalls, etc. They are cheap compared with the potential loss of data.
Train your users to exit the program properly.
Make frequent Backups.
If tables are corrupted, there are tools on the market that can fix most corruptions (like garbled file headers for example). In any case frequent backups are a must.
