There's a SET command scoped to the current data session

Basically when a user enters information when the field can't hold any more info then it loses focus and goes to the next control. I want the focus to stay in the control and only allow them to move when they hit the TAB or Enter. Any way of doing this without writing some code in the "VALID" method? Maybe there's a setting that I have missed?
