I recommend Symbol - www.symbol.com

We use Symbol Cobra LS1900 scanners which are great. They are very programmable.

eg. You can make the scanner send an ALT+Key code before the rest of the barcode so that you can put code in a button click event on a form to move the focus to the correct textbox for the barcode data etc.

I have had good results using a 3of9 barcode and that sort of methodology.
