I am a newbie in ASP .Net

I've dillydaddled (sp?) with WinForms and ADO.Net but nothing serious in production. I have done a few ASP apps at work.

Now, they ask me to migrate an ASP app from our to Intranet to our Extranet. This will require changes to functionality as not all of it will be offered to our clients int he same way used it internally by our Staff (i.e. it will have limitations).

I see this as a great opportunity to re-write in C# and finally get rid of the ugly/limited (IMHO) VBS & ASP code and learn ASP.Net.

The main corporate Extranet is mostly ASP/VBS. All the Enrollmet and Entitlement functions are done in ASP. After validation the user clicks a link (if they get this option offered based on Entitlement) that will send them to my app. It is just as easy to send them to ASP than to an ASPX page. But a session object with session variables is passed with ID info and some other important pieces (parameters) for this user.

Can I read this ASP session variable into ASPX? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are not the same. If not I have a major, maybe insurmountable problem, as passing paramms in the URL is not feasible. This can make or break the deal and I'd like to avoid redoing this in old ASP again if I can.
