By coincidence, I ran across the first issue of foxtalk today, which is over 15 years old (February 1989). I haven't seen this one before. My first surprise is that it's blue! I didn't subscribe until sometime around the FoxPro 2.5 days, but my current company has them going back to the beginning. The editorial was written by Glenn Hart. If I may quote:

INAUGURAL ISSUE MEANS A NEW INFORMATION SOURCE FOR FOXBASE+ USERS

Welcome to foxtalk! ... The market penetration of Fox database management products has grown by leaps and bounds, and we think the number of FoxBase+ users has reached the critical mass necessary to support a dedicated publication. The reaction to our first mailing about foxtalk supports this, and we're gratified at the very heavy response. Evidently, there are a lot of you out there hungering for information on your favorite database product...

We're aiming to give you "meat" rather than "fluff"... Our goal is to provide actionable, useful information, not the merely interesting...

We've put together a distinguished team of well-known FoxBASE+ experts to provide this wealth of information... George Goley, Pat Adams, David Irwin, Steve Straley, Tom Rettig, Richard Grossman, and others will be sharing their expertise and experience with you.

The other articles are:

Pull-Down Menus for FoxBASE+ 2.10 by George Goley
UDFs in FoxBASE+ by Pat Adams
The Ashton-Tate/Fox Lawsuit: What's the Real Story and What Does It Mean For You? by Glenn Hart
Lock the Lock(): A Set of Network Utilities for Fox by Richard Grossman

And, of course, the 24 pages contain a ton of code. Here's a quote from the March 1989 editorial:

foxtalk is just two issues old, but already it is Pinnacle's largest publication, surpassing its sister publications which have been published far longer.

Ah, the good ole days <g>. Thanks David, Ken, and others for keeping this publication alive.
