In your installshield project, add the merge module MSCOMCTL.MSM. That's the Windows Common Controls ActiveX Control DLL. The file you copied from your computer to the target XP box was probably a developer's version that requires extra files and/or registry settings to work correctly. Distributing via the merge module will most likely resolve the issue.
