Firebird provides the same feature set as Interbase, without monitoring virtual tables. I also heard that is faster than Interbase.

The advantage that Firebird has over Postgres is that it has a native Windows port and its small footprint (few MB). I don't know when windows native Postgres will be available (I heard this a long time ago but nothing yet).
