No, it is not a MUST. Your classes can be stored in any directory. You do need to add the path to your startmm.prg if you want to run within VFP. You can use the VCX Editor that is supplied with the framework to change classlocs in your VCXs, etc. See help in the Dev Guide under "The Mere Mortals VCX Editor" for more details. The VCX Editor is loaded with the following command line -

DO FORM VCXEDIT

Or you can just "USE" the vcx and "REPLACE" the Classloc field with a relative path appropriately.
