I think the problems were more widespread than just Wrox parent company. Kevin McNeish posted a message, I think here on the UT, about the problems he had with Wrox while co-authoring a book for them. I can't remember everything, but he was not given contact with the other authors, difficultly with contacting the editor, and other problems. It was not a pleasant experience.
And, if I recall the news stories correctly, the financial problems at Wrox with not selling .NET books contributed highly to the demise of their parent company.
