Thanks for the tip but, alas, no joy.
The MS article you pointed me mentions error 1426 specifically and I'm getting error 1429 but it looks like the behaviour should be similar.
The error message looks like it *should* contain the OLE exception number but it comes back zero. According to the VFP help, AERROR() should return the exception number in the 7th element of the array but it is also zero.
Maybe it's a QuickBooks QBFC problem and not a VFP problem. Don't know yet.
