A timeline might help:

- MS release VS.NET. A special version of CR was bundled with it.
- CR 9.0 is released. It included .NET updates, but uses the .NET CLR.
- MS releases VS.NET 2003, which included updates to CR, based on the VS.NET 2003 CLR.
- CR 10 is release. Again, there are .NET updates, using the .NET 2003 CLR

You need to make sure you match the version of Crystal to the correct version of the CLR.
