Chris, it sounds like your WSDL is not correct. How or when was it created?
A SOAP service publishes the methods it exposes and the arguments they take via its WSDL.
If you just took the WSDL generated for the MS example and did not adapt it for your needs, you would certainly have this problem. (If you did try to do it, can you explain what you did? Forgive me, I have no idea what example you're talking about or what instructions they gave <s>.)
Another possibility is that your WSDL is okay but it is "MS-centric" and you're working with a server that handles some SOAP aspects differently. Xplat, you have to be very careful about how you handle data types. (NB: this is getting better, slowly but surely.) I doubt this is your issue (considering how you're working through examples <s>) but you should remember it for the future <s>. It is one reason why the MS examples are written the way they are (sans params), I think!
