I must observe, Dave, that you do have a very peculiar way of valuing things. By that logic a hammer that is used in the building of 1,000 $250,000. houses should sell for millions of dollars.
Things, in general, are priced based on costs of production/distribution (plus in some cases an added amount to accumulate towards recovery of costs of development) plus a reasonable profit. Companies, at least until Nike changed ther model, use some portion of their profits for advertising in the hope of gaining additional sales to generate more profit.
