I don't think so unless the range is named or selected by the user. If you're populating the spreadsheet, then you just need to keep track of the last row modified.
I had a similar need for a 123 spreadsheet than had 600-800 rows. What I needed to do was create an SDF file for importing into an old FPW 2.6 system in the correct format. I wrote a VBScript file that did all the work, including deleting columns, formatting output, and writing to the file, among other things. Even considering that I had to count the number of rows, the process took around 45 seconds to complete (on a PIII 933). I don't think that's too bad considering the amount of work that was being done.
