Dropping tags will not help the problem as the junk seems to follow the cdx files forever. I have always physically deleted the cdx files from the server hard disk then recreated them from scratch preferably after a cold boot on the server, plus defrag just to make sure. This always works for me.
And what causes the problem ? Any number of crashes do, but the most common for me is having write caching turned on. I always ensure write caching is turned off on all machines on the network. Every time I have this error, sure enough some clown has turned write caching back on.
