I was lead to believe that hyperthreading is not available in win2k, and causes performance problems if implemented.
Not knowing your exact setup makes it difficult to comment, but I would look at at least doubling the number of servers with multiple 1GB connections & Raid 10 as it does have significant performance benefits.
Finding where the bottlenecks are is the answer. Testing is the only answer, but 8M/day writes would be pushing 2 x quads.
You wouldn,t have the problem if you went to a transaction based system i.e. Red Hat.
