As mentioned we started using the FLL simply because it was a bit more 'VFP friendly'. Since it is a wrapper for the DLL then there is presumably a (very) small performance hit in using this approach. But the main downside has turned out to be the need to update the FLL for each VFP version. The original 'SET LIBR TO C40FOX60.FLL' was harded-coded into the app changes had to be made there too.

With hindsight I'd have used the DLL directly. It may have been a bit more work getting things running initially - but no downline changes would have been needed.
